Benefits of the Sauna Blanket versus a Traditional Sauna

Happy April everyone. Springtime is here and Summer beach weather is around the corner. I'm sure most of you are working hard to loose that extra weight to get ready. Today I wanted to write about using the Sauna Blanket versus a real Sauna.

Let's face it, after a long workout it's nice to relax in a Sauna. For me, it's like meditation time. But what effects does this time really have on your body. I came across an article posted by the famous Jillian Michaels that stated this "You won't burn fat from sitting in a sauna after exercise. Most of the weight loss during a sauna session occurs because of fluid loss. You should immediately replace the fluid to prevent dehydration by drinking plenty of water, at least six to eight 8-ounce glasses daily." 


Basically, you may be doing your body more harm by sitting for extended lengths of time. The weight you think you lose in a Sauna will immediately come back once you replace those fluids. Since the heat is not applied directly to your muscles, there is no extra benefit for them either.

So how does the Sauna Blanket differ? The Sauna blanket uses FIR waves to penetrate just below the skin to help break down the fat cells. Yes you will sweat as the blanket heats up, and yes you will also need to replace the fluids lost. But over time, these fat cells are broken up and excreted through your body as waste. You will begin to notice those excess fat build up sites, begin to diminish, such as love handles and cellulite. It also helps remove toxins in the same manner as well. I like to use spa mud to assist in the removal of toxins and toning of skin as I lay in it.

Because you lay directly in the blanket, it also helps ease muscle pain and achy joint pain. The heat helps penetrate better using the FIR waves, than a traditional heating pad. 

When used in a quiet room or in a serene place it will help eliminate stress and help increase focus and assist in increasing your metabolism as well. You can relax in a traditional Sauna, but is it portable like the Sauna Blanket?

Initial Set Up

I have had many concerns about how to first use the blanket. Many comments are that upon initial use, only half of the blanket works. I am not sure why these are not included in the directions, but I want to clarify that this is just a factory setting.

On your box, there are two temperatures for the different sections of the Sauna Blanket. In the bottom right corners there should be a dot. It is very hard to notice if you are not looking for it. If only one number has a dot, then that side is the only one on. You must have dots on both numbers for the entire blanket to work.  Push the output button until both numbers have dots indicating that both sections are working.

I hope this little tip helps. I know in the excitement of trying something new, it is frustrating when it appears it doesn't work. Our goal is to make the whole experience as pleasant as possible for you to relax and unwind, and lose inches.

New Year, New You!!!

Happy New Year. If you are like most people you are hoping that this new year will bring you better health and a better body. I know I am. Last year I had lost a total of 35 pounds, and then I went on a cruise. Needless to say, I gained a few back. But with the new year I have a new focus and a new chance to change a few things. I have set my goals and I hope you have set some of your own.

Word to the wise: Everyone has setbacks. Even the most ambitious people will have times when they are challenged and fall. One thing I have learned with weight loss is that every day is a new day and that if you have a setback, the next day will bring a new beginning. A way I have found that helps me is to allow myself one cheat day a week. I can cheat in the middle if I work late and don't feel like cooking or I can cheat on the weekend to enjoy time with friends and family. If I know I have a cheat day to look forward to, then I am more likely to stay on track. This doesn't mean go crazy, but enjoy non-diet foods in moderation.

Let's all Welcome 2014 in with the phrase "New Year, New You" as we keep focus on our goals and look toward the future. The Ultimate Body Wrap

This week I wanted to touch on how to have the ultimate wrap experience. You're probably wondering why I called it that, so let me explain. I feel as though in order to be called  an ultimate wrap, it must be better and have better results than just a regular wrap. Since you have purchased your new Sauna Blanket, you are capable of having just that.

The goal is simple, to see better results. So let me give you a few tips I have picked up in my years of preforming them on clients. (Disclaimer: Every body type is different, so what works for most, may not necessary work for you.) So, having said the "Disclaimer" I will note that even on the most difficult body, I have found some success.

Things you will need to have on hand:

     The Sauna Blanket
     Dead Sea Mud (or other wrap element)
     Plastic Wrap (any brand)
     Disposable Gloves (I use ones like the Doctors office)
     A Nearby Shower

Prior to getting started, make sure you drink plenty of water. Also, during your treatment, keep water nearby.

First, you must have the Sauna Blanket. If you have waited or your mind is just not made up, trust me, you should really go ahead and buy it now. You will be happy you did.
If you still have doubts, call the customer service department, we're here to help you. Anyway, this isn't a sales pitch, it's inside information to help enhance your experience.

So in order to have a great wrap you must have a great solution. There are many types of body products specifically made for body wraps. I currently use seaweed, dead sea mud, sea salts infused mud, cucumber wrap, and a few others. Since I already purchase these, I may start selling them online as well. For now, just email me if your interested. So each of these targets different aspects. For this, we will use the dead sea mud. It comes from the Dead Seas in Isreal and is infused with 21 essential vitamins and nutrients. It has the added bonus of tightening the skin and minimizing pores. This mud is all natural and can be used all over the body, including the face. It is very tolerable for those with skin allergies. If you have sensitive skin, always do a test prior to using this product all over.

So, now the fun part, turning yourself into a mummy. You may want to place a sheet down, you can also use it later. In order to do this, with as less mess as possible, I move from body part to body part and start at the bottom first. Make sure you put your gloves on, it makes it easier later. So apply mud to your leg. It doesn't have to be think, just a thin consistant layer. Next, you want to open the plastic wrap. I like to take it out of the box and use scissors to cut it. Start wrapping as tight as your comfort level allows. Remember not to wrap this too tight, because you will be stuck in this wrap for 45-60 minutes, and you don't want to turn purple in the process. Complete these steps covering your legs, torso, and arms.

Now that your wrapped up, you can take the gloves off and pull the sheet around you as you lay down in your Sauna Blanket. I like to wrap the sheet around, because heat can still penetrate through it. But the main reason is as you sweat, the mud will run and will make a huge mess in your Sauna Blanket. So the sheet makes for easy clean up. Plus since it's just mud, you can easily wash the sheet. Check out Tips on how to clean your Sauna Blanket.

So now that your relaxing in you Sauna Blanket, put the heat and timer as high as you feel comfortable. Remember that higher heat does not necessarily provide better effects. You want comfortable heat to help you sweat. The FAR infrared waves will penetrate, regardless of how hot the machine gets. Read FAQs for more info on that.

After your finished, keep the sheet around you and proceed to the nearest shower. Lay it out on the ground as you preceed to cut yourself out of the plastic. Enjoy a nice shower or bath.

To test results, weigh yourself before and after and well as take measurement of the areas you wrapped up. I like to take before and after pictures. This is also good when doing it a few times a week, you can view your progress over time. Let us know how it worked for you, tell us here.

How to Care for your New Sauna Blanket

So you just purchased your new sauna blanket and want to try it out as soon as it arrives. I know I did when I got mine. I read all the instructions on how to use it. Instead of wearing cotton, since I do operate a body wrap business, I did a full dead seas mud wrap and set my timer. As I felt the sweat pouring off me, I knew this thing was working. When the timer went off, I got up, un-mummified myself, and showered.

When I got back to the wrap machine I discovered a hot sweaty mess. Since I perform wraps on clients, I had to clean and most importantly sanitize this machine, without damaging or voiding the warranty. So I researched and discussed with my manufacturers the best solution for care and maintenance. I am now passing this on to you. You've made a solid investment and I want you to get your money's worth for years to come.

So here's the cleaning secret and it keeps your manufacturers warranty in tact. 

First, make sure the bed has turned off. Either the timer has went off, you shut it off manually, or completely unplug. I would suggest doing this before you shower, so that it cools slightly. Bacteria love to grow in warm areas and who know what toxins were just released from your body, so do not allow the bed to cool completely.

Second, Create a mix of 3/4 distilled vinegar and 1/4 water. Vinegar is a pure substance known for its anti-microbial prevention. Vinegar will also get rid of any odors and is 100% safe and effective. Do not use harsh chemicals or cleaners. Beauty supply chains also sell sanitation cleansers, however these are more costly and do the same job.

Third, Make sure you wipe down completely after each use. Do not over saturate. I like to spray on my paper towel first and wipe that way. This helps me prevent any over spraying.

Lastly, please allow to dry completely before storing. Leaving anything wet before placing in storage is asking for mold growth. This will completely void the warranty.
